Ryan Crane, CFA
Ryan brings nearly a decade of professional experience in business and finance to Tempo. Throughout his early career, Ryan has developed deep understanding of the corporate strategy and financial DNA that fuel consumer-facing companies. Ryan holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (honors), and holds an A.B. in Neuroscience / Psychology from Princeton University (magna cum laude). He is also a CFA Charter holder.
Austin Gallagher, PhD
Austin is a renowned biologist and entrepreneur with ten years of professional experience in sustainability and brand building. He founded Beneath the Waves, a non-profit organization focusing on ocean conservation, where he has formed strategic partnerships with brands such as Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, GoPro, Outside Magazine, Bonnaroo, and Google. His work has been featured in the New York Times, HuffPo, the BBC, and National Geographic and in 2016 he made the Forbes 30 Under 30 List, and currently serves as a member of the Forbes Non-profit Council. Austin holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Miami, an MS in Marine Science from Northeastern University, and a BS in Biology/Minor in Communications from Loyola University in Maryland.
Grant Taylor Williams
Grant is a multi-disciplinary innovator, previously working in electronics R&D and innovating in the medical devices, data analytics, and smart home technology spaces. He earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his Masters / Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. Grant brings an analytical approach to sales and customer insights. He is passionate about tea and has toured China extensively in search of the best oolong.
With 13 years of experience as a resourceful innovator, first in hospitality with a profitable restaurant still operating in Bloomington, Illinois, BJ was a co-founding partner at an engineering firm creating and implementing on site wind technology. His next two ventures took him back to California where he created a fashion line of accessories for Forever 21, where he met his partner Elan and they created Vita Coco Café, a coconut water coffee hybrid. BJ was able to successfully exit Vita Coco Cafe and chase his passion into the liquor space by importing a cashew apple spirit from Goa, India, as well as creating a brand new line of convenient single serving mixers called Minute Mixology. BJ is also a co-founder on the newest entry to the meal replacement space with their Bear Squeeze line.
Benjamin is an entrepreneur and organizational leader with 20+ years of experience. He joined Tradecraft Outfitters, a fast-growing national specialty coffee and beverage distributor and solutions provider in 2017. Benjamin attended Bowdoin College, which included a year abroad in Paris. He joined TransPerfect Translations in an entry-level position, rose to become its first VP of New Business Development and was a key player in the company's rapid growth. Benjamin then joined Rishi Tea as a co-owner and Vice President. Under his leadership, Rishi grew from a startup into a multi-million dollar market leader with 90 employees and business across multiple channels in all 50 states and 15 countries. He has also served as an Advisory Board member to the World Tea Expo and was honored to be a “40 Under 40” winner.
